‘Don’t Trash Our Oceans’ is our latest urban art project.  This permanent mural was created at Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach by Jenny McCracken and Anton Pulvirenti for Waverley Council.  The project was organised by Environmental Officer Jodie Savage.

don't smoke, bondi beach mural detail

As a long term resident of Bondi I’ve challenged a few visitors to pick up their cigarette butts and and put them in the bin.  Why do people have to be asked?  Are they lazy, ignorant or just don’t care because it’s not their backyard?  If that same rubbish appeared in their drinking water or fish dinner they might have a different opinion but as that’s not the case we can assist by putting the message out in creative ways that beautify urban spaces and capture the public’s attention.

Andi Mether is Managing Director of Zest Events International.  A word of warning, don’t drop your litter in front of her.
